What does the final settlement include?

The final settlement (finiquito) is the payment of the amounts your employer owes you when the employment relationship ends, whatever the reason: dismissal, resignation or end of contract.

Pending salary: The days worked in the last month that you have not yet been paid for.

Unused vacation days: Vacation days accrued and not taken are paid as salary days.

Accrued extra payments: With 14 payments, the proportional part of the extra payment accrued since the last one was paid. With 12 payments it is already prorated in your payslip.

The net settlement is an estimate: the income tax withholding and Social Security contribution are calculated with your net salary calculator settings (region, personal situation...). Extra payments are not subject to Social Security when paid out because their bases are already prorated in the monthly contributions. Check your collective agreement for specific cases.
